Summary of Changes

The 1994 edition of the Checklist included 274 species with an additional 64 on the Supplementary List (species seen fewer than 5 times). This 2000 edition has 278 species plus 72 on the Supplementary List, a net increase of twelve species in both categories combined.

1. Species added, deleted, or renamed to conform to AOU actions:
• Solander's Petrel renamed Providence Petrel
• Oldsquaw renamed Long-tailed Duck
• Common Black-headed Gull changed to Black-headed Gull
Marbled Murrelet, split into Marbled Murrelet and Long-billed Murrelet [added], both of which occur in Grays Harbor
• Solitary Vireo [deleted], split into Cassin's Vireo [added], Blue-headed Vireo, and Plumbeous Vireo, only the first of which occurs in Washington
• Northern Oriole renamed Bullock's Oriole
• Rosy Finch [deleted], split into Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch [added] .....
